On Wednesday, the US embassy in Cairo announced that Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week with the US HUMVEE manufacturer AM General to locally manufacturer the body of (Military Hammer) trucks and vehicles.

"The deal also aims to boost the manufacturing capability to allow Egypt to replace or supplement its existing Humvee fleet," according to the Ministry of Military Production.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Andy Hove, AM General President, and CEO said: “HUMVEE look forward to applying our manufacturing and design expertise to help grow the Egyptian automotive industry."

"The new domestic vehicle will certainly make a lot of difference in field operations and prove to be beneficial to the Egyptian Armed forces," the statement added.

Hove also praised the role of the Ministry of Military Production's companies and its cadres in providing the Egyptian army with the latest advanced military products and several types of weapons, equipment, and instruments.
