She explained that the past few years the Environment Ministry managed to list all factories operating in the garbage recycling domain and determine the types of garbage coming from each governorate to be sorted and handled in the best way possible.

Meanwhile, she underlined the importance of setting up appropriate infrastructure for landfills and closing random garbage dumps.

Wastes managment

On last January 2019, a ministerial committee formed of ministers of military production, local development, environment besides the chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, head to Berlin to learn about the latest technologies used to set up waste recycling plants.

The strategy includes developing plans to increase the efficiency of the waste recycling plants located in the governorates to supply some plants with new lines and equipment with latest technology, by taking advantage of the German expertise applied in this field.

According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics ''CAPMAS'',  44.8%  of Egyptian households dispose their garbage by dumping it onto the street, while 55.2% dispose it through private companies and garbage collectors.
