Egypt Vs. Portugal in World Championship Semis

Egypt’s U-19 handball national team will face Portugal in the semi-finals of  2019 Men’s Youth World Championship on Saturday, August 17 at 20:45 CLT in North Macedonia.

The Pharaohs, who were pooled in Group B alongside Sweden, Chinese Taipei, Canada, Hungary. and France qualified for the last 16 as group winners.

They delivered an impressive performance during the tournament as they pulled off four victories over Sweden, Chinese Taipei, Canada, and Hungary in the group stage. Whereas they suffered only one defeat by the defending champions France in their second game at the tournament.

The African Champions made an ideal start to the tournament by defeating Sweden 32-29, before suffering a 28-24 defeat by holders France in the second game.

Egypt crushed Chinese Taipei in their third game with a 36-25 score on Friday. They defeated their rivals Canada with a 47-20 score in the fourth game of the group stage. Egypt demolished their opponents Hungary with a 31-24 score in the last game of the group stage.

The Pharaohs demolishing Slovenia 30-23 in the last 16, before defeating Iceland 35-31 in the quarter-finals to reach the last 4.

The African Champions are looking forward to following the footsteps of Egypt’s U 20 team that achieved a bronze medal at the Men’s Junior U21 World Championship in Spain.

They delivered an impressive performance during the tournament, as they became the first non-European team to achieve the full mark during the group stage in this tournament since 2009 when Brazil managed to do so.
