Egyptians in Canada to Celebrate "Civilization Month” in July

Five Egyptian ministries met to coordinate the celebration program for the month of the Egyptian civilization in Canada scheduled for July. This will enable the Egyptian delegation in Canada to officially celebrate the event with their fellow compatriots at homeland.

The event is to be considered as the celebrations of the glorious July Revolution that commemorates the birth of Egypt as an independent republic.

Event schedule

  The Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram lauded the efforts of the Minister of Culture Inas Abdul-Dayem, Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al-Anany and finally ambassador Reda Habib the assistant of the secretary of State for American Affairs, and representative of the Ministry of Social Solidarity for scheduling the events.

Makram declared that the celebration in Canada will be under the patronage of the PM Moustafa Madbouly.

She confirmed that establishing the month of Egyptian Civilization was the result of the efforts exerted by MP Shereif Saba’awi, the Member of Regional Parliament of Ontario.

She pointed out the importance of scheduling the events, in addition to a program that would mix Egyptian cultures and arts to enrich this unique celebration; this event will strengthen the Egyptian-Canadian relations.

The minister also valued the role of the Egyptian community in Canada.

Abdel-Dayem expressed the readiness of her Ministry to present a number of artistic and cultural presentations that reflect the history of the Egyptian Civilizations through the participation of the national folklore, which will be held in July, in addition to organizing a cultural convoy that includes a various activity, highlighting the distinctive character of Egyptian civilization and creativity.

It will also include an exhibition of book fair, a traditional heritage, various artistic performances as well as literary and poetry evenings.

On his part, Al-Anany suggested that the events should include a number of lectures, highlighting the history of Egypt since the Pharaonic era and shedding light on its culture, as well as holding symposiums to review the modern archaeological discoveries and their effect in the human heritage.

Coordination with universities and museums

Egypt aims to coordinate with a number of universities and museums in the cities of Ontario to receive a wide spread serves the objectives of the celebration of this month.

Furthermore, Habib stressed the importance of communicating with the Egyptian Ambassador in Canada Ahmed Abo Zaid, for effective arrangement of the celebration.

It should be noted that Saba’awi, submitted a draft No. 106 in 2019 to the Parliament that declared the month of July as the month of Egyptian heritage, so that the Egyptians can celebrate it in Ontario, Canada officially.
