On Friday, Egyptian Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry expressed his surprise at Turkey's statements on the Philia (Friendship) forum that convened Thursday in Athens.

In televised remarks to "Al-Hekaya" talk show, Shoukry said that Egypt 'did not recognize Turkish claims on Philia forum', noting that the forum's goal is to spread goodness and cooperation among all peoples, not to confront anyone.

Concerning Qatar, FM stressed that "Egypt abides by any document it signs and respects its obligations and fulfills them."

Moreover, he pointed out that Egypt restored diplomatic ties with Qatar, ended the flight ban, and sought to hold meetings between bilateral committees to discuss specific steps to activate the terms of the "Al-Ula agreement."

It is worth mentioning that, Al-Ula agreement for Arab reconciliation with Qatar was signed on January 5, which ended a political dispute that broke out in mid-2017.

Since June 2017, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, had cut ties with Qatar, accusing it of interfering in their internal affairs and supporting terrorist groups, charges denied by Qatar.
