Egypt Revives 2006 African Cup of Nations' Memories

Egyptian team snatched the 2019 African Cup of Nations  Simulation's title. The tournament was organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. It was held on the playground of El Gezira Youth Center. 23 African communities represented the teams that will take part in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian team comprised the following players: Gamal Abdel Naser (goalkeeper), Nader Rashad, Mahmoud Tamer, Ahmed Ismail, Abdel Rahman Sayed, Youssef Mohsen, Mostafa Hesham, Waleed Maher, Nader Abdel Baky, Khaled Amer, Mido Hesham, Osama Hafez, and Amir Aly. Maher Hamza was the team's manager, while Ahmed Nahla was the general coach.

Uganda, Zimbabwe, Congo, and Egypt were amongst Group A. At the round of 16, Egypt beat Namibia 4-0. Throughout the quarterfinals, Egypt beat South Africa 3-1. After the semifinal match between Egypt and Mali ended in a tie (1-1), the former defeated the latter thanks to the penalties.

Regarding Group D which included the Ivory Coast South Africa, Morroco, and Namibia. The Ivorian team defeated Ugandan 4-1 at the round of 16. It also beat Ghana 5-2, and Nigeria 2-1 in the quarterfinals and the semifinals, respectively.

Thanks to the penalties (4-3), Egypt snatched the tournament's title from the Ivory Coast after drawing 1-1 in the finals. The Nigerian team won bronze and Mali ended fourth.

Worth noting is that Egypt was the 2006 African Cup of Nations' champion and Ivory Coast was the runner-up.
