After vaccinating hundreds of medical staff members in quarantine hospitals since January, Egypt's health ministry activated on Sunday the registration process for eligible categories of citizens to obtain coronavirus vaccines via a designated website.

Though citizens above the age of 18 could apply for vaccination via the website, the eligible categories, who have priority, are the patients suffering from chronic diseases per the ministry's database.

In a separate statement issued earlier on Sunday, the ministry said around 45,429 citizens registered online for a vaccination date and location in the first 12 hours after the launching the website, including 6,615 medical workers, 32,172 chronic diseases patients, and 6,642 seniors.

Minister of Health Hala Zayed revealed last week that citizens would get the two-shot vaccine at a cost of no more than EGP 200 (around $13), with needy families and inpiduals to be exempt from the charge.
