Egypt Reports 279 New COVID-19 Cases, 9 Deaths

On Tuesday, Egypt reported 279 new COVID-19 cases, and new nine deaths, according to COVID-19 daily updates issued by the Ministry of Health.

The new recorded rates raised the total number of COVID-19 infections in Egypt to 288441 since the beginning of the pandemic in Egypt. Nn the other hand, the death toll linked to the virus reached 16736.

In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Al Nady, a member of the scientific committee for combating COVID-19, said that the current mutated version of Coronavirus in the state is more transmissible and more infectious.

He added that Coronavirus is now infecting whole families, not only one person, however, this mutation is not the fiercest, but more infectious.

In the same context, Hossam Hosny, the head of the scientific committee for combating COVID-19, said that all the vaccines in Egypt are safe and effective, continuing that Delta variant has been detected in Egypt.

During an interview aired on CBC on Tuesday, Hosny expressed that giving vaccinated persons a third vaccine dose is still under study; it is expected to be given six months after being fully vaccinated.

The official highlighted that there are five vaccines in Egypt for securing persons against the virus alongside a new vaccine to be added, continuing, that the latest updates added to COVID-19 treatment protocols are not linked to the Delta variant.

However, those updates were added after new studies and researches conducted on new effective COVID-19 treatments.
