On Thursday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 1403 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 405393.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 22260 nationwide after the ministry announced 22 deaths.
About 1632 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 339259.
In televised remarks, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar announced that about 40.2% of Egyptian citizens received the coronavirus vaccine.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the state aims to vaccinate 70% of citizens in the coming period.
The country’s vaccination campaign started in January 2021 using various types of imported and locally made vaccines and vaccinating millions of citizens.
About 500,000 citizens received COVID-19 booster shots, especially those with weak immunity.
