Egypt Receives Tokyo Olympics Bronze Medallists with Open-Top Bus

Cairo Airport is gearing up to receive Egypt's Taekwondo fighters Hedaya Malak and Saif Issa, who claimed the Bronze Medal in Tokyo Olympics.

An open-top bus was outside of the airport to receive the players, who claimed the first two medals for Egypt in Olympics.

Malak claimed on Monday a Bronze Medal for Egypt in Tokyo Olympics after defeating Peggy McPherson 17-6 in the -67kg event.

Malak crushed Malia Pasika 19-0, to face McPherson to compete on Tokyo Olympics Bronze Medal.

She reached the quarter finals after defeating World No.6 Magda Henin 11-10, before losing to Lauren Williams 3-12 of Great Britain in the Women's quarter finals of the -67kg event.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Taekwondo fighter Seif Issa claimed Egypt's second bronze medal after defeating Andre Richard 12-4 in the -81kg in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The Egyptian fighter qualified for the last four after defeating Simone Alessio of Italy 6-5, before suffering a 1-13 defeat to Russian champion Maxim Khramtkov.

The Egyptian star, who ranked 5th in the world rankings, is Taekwondo practitioner. He won a bronze medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, held in Nanjing, China.

In 2020, he competed in the men's 80 kg event at the 2020 African Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament in Rabat, Morocco and he qualified to represent Egypt at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
