Egypt was ranked first in the world as the most popular tourist destination during the current period, according to the opinion survey conducted by Swiss Travel INSIDE magazine specialized in tourism affairs.
Egypt outperformed many other tourist destinations such as the Malpes, the Caribbean countries and other regions of the world despite the strict measures approved by the Swiss government to contain the coronavirus pandemic crisis.
On his part, Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, indicated that the Swiss tour operators have confirmed that the results of this survey are a very positive indicator.
They confirmed the confidence of Swiss tourists in the safety of Egypt as a tourist destination alone, in addition to its distinguished geographical location and its picturesque beaches.
Egypt's weather is sunny throughout the year, especially in such times when the weather in Europe is low in temperatures.
Furthermore, Mohamed Farag, director of the central office overseeing Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, said that the Swiss tour operators also confirmed that this survey made tour operators reconsider the marketing of Egyptian tourism products, in addition to contributing to enhancing tourists’ confidence in the safety of Egyptian tourist destinations.
The precautionary measures and health safety controls taken by the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, to confront the novel coronavirus (known also as COVID-19), were applied in Egyptian hotels, restaurants, museums and archaeological sites.
