Egypt Proposes to Host UN Climate Change Conference in 2022

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad announced,in an interview with the Middle East News Agency, that Egypt proposed to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP 27, in 2022. The minister said that the final decision regarding Egypt's hosting of the conference will be announced at the conference which will be held in Scotland from October 31 to November 12.

The minister added that Egypt will present its major national projects taking into account the environmental dimensions when implementing them to contribute significantly to reducing global warming, including the initiative to convert fuel-powered cars to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and electric vehicles (EVs), as transportation is the second sector contributes to climate change and increasing the global warming.
