Egypt Partners with IBM, Microsoft & Amazon within Digital Builders Initiative

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology witnessed on Friday the signing of new partnerships in cooperation with the major global technology developers operating in Egypt, namely, IBM, Cisco, and VMWare, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services within the "Digital Egypt Builders" initiative.

These partnerships aim to sharpen the technical skills of students joining the initiative, spread awareness of the latest trends in digital technologies, provide excellent opportunities for vocational training, award accredited certificates, and bring students closer to the job market, according to a Ministry of Communications statement.

This comes within the framework of the activation and implementation of the Digital Egypt Builders initiative (DEBI), which grants outstanding graduates of the Faculties of Engineering, Computers and Information Technology the opportunity to obtain a professional master's in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, robotics & automation, and digital arts.

The ministry explained that the cooperation with IBM Egypt aims to enable students to use the latest modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, data science, data analysis and the Internet of things, through the IBM Skills Academy, and IBM Digital-Nation Africa.

The ministry noted the participation of IBM Egypt in initiating awareness lectures in the fields of advanced technology, providing vocational training and awarding certificates to learners, and organizing a hackathon competition at the end of training for the distinguished and linking them to the labor market.

Moreover, the cooperation with Cisco Egypt aims to empower students and faculty members in the field of cybersecurity by offering an integrated program based on the curricula of the Cisco Networking Academy and obtaining accredited certificates from the Academy.

In addition, the Ministry stated that cooperation with VMware aims to enhance the technical and professional skills of students by providing technical training and education in the field of digital transformation efforts based on the technology solutions of the company.

Under this agreement, the two sides will develop a modern model consisting of several stages of training on VMware technologies, which will be implemented by the “Digital Egypt Builders” initiative through its program in the field of cloud computing.

Furthermore, the cooperation with Microsoft aims to provide educational technology courses for the students of the initiative, train students in cybersecurity skills, in addition to a training course on data science and artificial intelligence, and organize a group of hackathons for students to problems solving and challenges using technology, as well as linking graduates of the Initiative with Microsoft's business partner network for potential business opportunities.

Moreover, cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is underway to provide a new training program to support the “Digital Egypt Builders” initiative, which provides a set of distance education, training and certification programs with the aim of accelerating learning of cloud computing techniques and developing youth skills with a focus on strategic areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and cybersecurity.

Participants will be able to take advantage of Amazon Web Services content, a range of training programs and remote workshops, as well as certification pathways from AWS to support youth readiness in Egypt.
