Egypt Participates in Inauguration of Museum of African Civilizations

CAIRO, Dec. 17 (SEE)-  The Ministry of Antiquities represented by Mahrous Saeed, the General Supervisor of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, at the opening ceremony of the Museum of African Civilizations in Dakar, capital of Senegal.

Saeed said that the ministry’s keenness to meet the invitation roots from its belief of the value and importance of the message that the museum carries on the civilization and history of peoples and countries, and that culture and civilization are the most important means of connecting people.

He also expressed his great admiration of the museum, which was established in cooperation between the government of Senegal and the Chinese government, to highlight the ancient African civilization through its thousands of archaeological pieces.

On his part, Amr Al-Tibi, Director of the Department of Ancient Reproductions, noted that the ministry entrusted the Museum of African Civilizations in Senegal with 23 pieces of archeological models produced by the Archaeological Reproduction Unit to support the museum's display.  

The most notable pieces that will be showcased include; a model of King Tutankhamen's dagger, the statue of Queen Nefertiti, King Akhenaten’s head, a large statue of the Egyptian writer and a great mural of King Akhenaten in addition to the most prominent monographs of the archaeological group of King Tutankhamen.
