Egypt offered its sincere condolences to Malaysia, on Saturday, over its devastating floods that left dozens dead.

“Egypt offers its deep condolence to the families of the deceased, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, affirming solidarity and support for Malaysia’s government and people in their loss.

Last week, the country witnessed devastating floods that killed 46 people and displaced more than 30,000.

On his part, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob acknowledged "weaknesses" in flood management as the blame game began over the slow response in the country.

"I don't deny (the weakness) and will improve in the future...The responsibility is not that of the federal government alone, but also the state governments and the front-liners," he said.
