Egypt expressed on Saturday its deepest condolences over the victims of the powerful earthquake that hit Turkey's Aegean coast and north of the Greek island of Samos, resulting in multiple deaths and hundreds of injuries, as well as massive material damage.

In an official statement, Egypt's Foreign Ministry offered its heartfelt condolences for the innocent victims and their families in Greece and Turkey, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

It is worth mentioning, 26 people were killed in Turkey and Greece after a strong earthquake struck the Aegean Sea on Friday, bringing buildings crashing down and setting off tidal waves that slammed into coastal areas and islands.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department said that a 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook the country’s coast overlooking the Aegean Sea. The US Seismological Center reported that the strength of the quake was 7.0.
