In celebration of World Tourism Day 2023, Egypt is holding some artistic festivities at one of the Port Ghalib hotels located in the city of Marsa Alam, in the Red Sea Governorate.

The celebrations will feature 50 artists from 22 foreign countries and will continue until September 28th in the Marina Jannah Resort Aqua Park area.

The Fine Arts Sector of the Ministry of Culture will organize the event in cooperation with the Egyptian General Authority for the Promotion of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Mohamed Hemeida, a fine artist who manages the event, said that tours will be organized for participants in the event to the different tourist destinations with the aim of promoting travel to Egypt.

According to UNWTO, the theme of this year is “Tourism and Green Investment”. It will be a call to action to the international community, governments, multilateral financial institutions, development partners, and private sector investors to unite around a new tourism investment strategy.

World Tourism Day has been held on 27 September each year since 1980. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the Organisation in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of the UNWTO five years later.

The day aims to increase awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic values.
