Egypt-Libya to Sign Agreements on Transportations & Infrastructure Projects

On Wednesday, the Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir met with his Libyan counterpart Muhammad Al-Shoubi, and his accompanying delegation in Cairo. They discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the various fields of transport.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Transport clarified that the meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport. It was attended by heads of bodies and companies affiliated with the ministry, and heads of a number of national Egyptian companies working in the field of infrastructure.

The statement said: “At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Wazir confirmed the depth of the relations between the two countries. He affirmed the readiness of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport to cooperate with the brothers in Libya in all fields of transport. He added that the ministry will work to expand the entry of national Egyptian companies in the implementation of infrastructure projects. in Libya".

For his part, the Libyan Minister of Transport praised the great development in the transport system in Egypt. He also praised the mega projects that are being implemented during the era of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Al-Shoubi confirmed Libya’s keenness to cooperate with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in implementing a large number of road and bridge projects. and infrastructure in Libya.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in a number of transport fields, such as land and dry ports. They discussed developing the Egyptian Salloum and Libyan Musaid ports. During the meeting, they agreed to quickly finalize the procedures for signing the land transport agreement between the two sides.

The meeting also discussed preparation to sign two agreements in the maritime search and rescue agreements and combating marine pollution. The two sides stressed the need to update the maritime transport agreement signed between the two countries on February 26, 1992. They reviewed a number of agreements to be signed with national Egyptian companies in Infrastructure, roads and bridges.

The Egyptian Minister of Transport stressed that “the ministry will supervise all these projects. Egypt will support the Libyan side with a number of distinguished specialized engineers in this field, he said.

Intensive meetings will be held until signing specific agreements in the presence of the prime ministers of the two countries.
