Egypt Launches Real Estate National ID System

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday to follow up the position of the real estate inventory and management project with the aim of establishing a national ID number for properties.

Madbouly referred to the efforts made by the government in the real estate inventory and development system, noting that the system aims to secure citizens' ownership of real estate  and maximize benefit from it, in addition to eliminating unlicensed construction and slums.

On his part, Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology presented a report on the executive position of the real estate inventory and management project, which aims to create a spatial information structure for real estate and land plots that depends on a unified national ID to integrate data and reduce violations and infringements to preserve property rights.

He added that the new plan will raise the efficiency of services provided to citizens, maximizing the economic return of real estate, and raise the state’s ranking in global indicators in the field of IT, which would boost FDI.

Khaled El-Attar, Deputy Minister for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Automation that the government aims to complete the geo-information database such as street names and administrative boarders, as well as simplifying the current work procedures and tools for licensing real estate, including platforms to help citizens with the registration of properties and real estate taxes.

El-Attar that more than 35,000 plots of land, about 23,000 buildings, and 5088 streets have been registered in Port Said governorate. It was agreed to launch the unified national real estate ID in Port Said governorate in July as a guiding model ready for circulation in other governorates.
