Egypt Launches 1st Marine Conservation Campaign in MENA Region: Minister

On Thursday, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled El-Anany, and Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad announced the launch of a campaign aims to protect the marine environment in the Red Sea.

This came during a ceremony held at the Environmental Cultural and Educational Center, as part of Egypt’s celebrations of World Environment Day 2021 and a continuation of the Eco Egypt campaign for promoting eco-tourism.

Among those who attended the ceremony were Randa Abu Al-Hassan, the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program, representatives of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, a number of staff in two ministries.

On his part, Dr. Khaled El-Anani hailed the participation of the Environment Ministry in launching the campaign that is considered the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa and comes as a part of the ECO EGYPT campaign for ecotourism.

He also valued the efforts of the Ministry of Environment in launching such initiatives which contribute to achieving a balance between benefiting from and protecting tourist sites of an ecological nature to maintain the sustainability of biopersity, maintaining ecological balance and sustainability of tourism activity, and regulating land and sea activities.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Environment said that this year's celebrations of the World Environment Day are unconventional in light of the exceptional global conditions, resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus, which oblige us to reconcile with nature, without which there will be no life on the Earth.
