Egypt Keen to Boost Cooperation with UK: Nasr

Egypt's Investment and International Cooperation Minister Dr. Sahar Nasr joined the British Ambassador in Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams and fifteen leading British companies for the 1st British investors' forum, held at the British embassy in Cairo.

The forum was attended by key investors including; AstraZeneca, BP Egypt, GSK, HSBC, Vodafone Egypt, Shell, and Unilever as well as, representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and the UK Department for International Trade.

They discussed future investment plans and identify ways to enhance the business environment in Egypt.

 

 

The attendees also tackled Egypt’s forthcoming participation in Africa investment summit in London.

The summit will bring together businesses, governments, and international institutions to promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across Africa, besides supporting job creation in the continent.

“Egypt is keen to boost its cooperation with the UK, in light of the promising investment opportunities in the market," Sahar said. " I call on British companies to increase their investments in Egypt, which amounts to 47.8 billion dollars with 1817 British companies operating in Egypt."

She also invited British companies to participate in the Africa forum 2019, which is due to be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, during the period from 22 to 23 November 2019.

The forum, which will take place in the new administrative capital, will be attended by a number of heads of state and ministers from Africa, and a number of businessmen and investors from all around the world, according to the minister.

On his part, Sir Adams said: “As Egypt’s leading investor, the UK was keen to create a channel of communication with leading British companies through the British investors’ forum. This open dialogue will ensure we continue working together to invest in Egypt’s human capital and achieve our shared prosperity goals.”
