Egypt Issues EGP-100 Royal Mummies Parade Commemorative Coins

Coinage Authority issued EGP 100-commemorative coins on the occasion of the Royal mummies’ parade to the public. The price of each coin will be EGP 640.

Releasing the coin came under the directive orders by President Abdel Fattah Sisi, and Dr. Mohamed Maite, the minister of finance.

The Royal Parade that took place on April 3 attracted the whole world after transporting 22 royal mummies in a majestic world parade from the place of its current display in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the place of its permanent display in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.

The mummies were discovered in a royal cachette in Deir el-Bahari in 1881, and the cachette was found inside the tomb of King Amenhotep II in 1898.

All mummies were previously discovered at two main spots which are TT-320, and KV-35.

Regarding TT320, it is known as the “royal cachette “. It is an ancient cemetery located next to Deir al-Bahari within the group of Thebes cemeteries in western Luxor.

On the other hand, KV-35 included: kings Seqenenre Taa, Ahmose I, Amenhotep I, Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Seti I, Ramses II, Ramses III, and Ramses IX, and Queen Ahmose-Nefertari.
