 Egypt Invested EGP 194 Bln for  Water Resources, Irrigation

A report issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that the volume of investments in the irrigation and water resources sector rose over 8 years to reach EGP 194 billion.

This sum is compared to about EGP 27 billion during the last period, with a growth rate of 619%.

The annual public investment directed to the water resources sectors rose from EGP4.8 billion on (13/2014) to EGP 45 billion in (21/2022), with a growth rate of about 838%.

The plan aims to implement a project to rehabilitate and lining canals. The target and the first phase include rehabilitation of lengths of about 5800 km by the end of the plan

The plan also includes transferring the produced water from the Bahr al-Baqar water treatment plant to the lands planned for cultivation in the North and Central parts of the Sinai Peninsula.
