Egypt Expects Increase in COVID-19 Cases Next Month

Health Minister Hala Zayed said on Sunday that Egypt will witness an increase in its daily number of coronavirus infections by the middle of September.

In a press conference, the minister added that the ministry is exerting great efforts to vaccinate the largest number of citizens before the upcoming new wave.

On Sunday, Egypt reported 173 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total infection tally officially to 286,168 since the outbreak began in February 2020, according to the Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

The health ministry also reported in its statement 9 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 16663.

The statement added that 107 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 235,635.

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population said in a post on its official page on “Facebook” that the Coronavirus vaccine is safe, effective, and stimulates the immune system to form antibodies to protect the body from the virus.
