The activities of the 12th session of Joint Russian-Egyptian Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held from October 7 to 10 and being headed by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, are discussing ways and mechanisms for the development of economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Head of the Commercial Representation Authority Ahmed Antar will head the Egyptian side at the meeting of the Joint Expert Committee, which will be held on October 8-9.

The third round of negotiations for a free trade agreement between Egypt and the Eurasian Union is scheduled to be held on from October  8 to 10, 2019, on the sidelines of the meetings of the Egyptian-Russian Joint Committee.

Earlier this year, Industry Minister Amr Nassar said that the free trade agreement between Egypt and the Eurasian Union will be signed by the end of this year.

The general framework of the agreement was signed last November in the presence of Nassar the Eurasian Economic Union’s Trade Minister.

Noteworthy, since taking office in June 2015, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has been keen on integrating Egypt into regional, continental and international economic groupings for the sake of the Egyptian economy and the Egyptian citizens.
