Earlier this week, Egyptian ministry of Transportation announced constructing and operating a multi-purpose terminal in Alexandria port in 2022.
- The terminal is the first offshore multi-purpose project implemented by Egyptian funds and hands.
- The project is implemented on an area of half a million square meters.
- The length of the station’s berths is planned to reach 2,500 meters
- The terminal will be implemented at a depth of 17.5 meters, qualifying it to receive modern and huge commercial ships and vessels.
- The terminal will be qualified to accommodate, annually, 1.5 million containers, 2 million tons of general cargoes and one hundred thousand vehicles, with a total capacity of 12 million tons per year.
- The total cost of the project reaches EGP 7 billion.
- Almost 27% of the project has been implemented so far.
- This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
- The terminal is set to go into operation during the first quarter of 2022.
