Egypt's ambassador to Copenhagen Karim Sharif met the Political Director of the Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Undersecretary Christina Markus Lassen to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between their countries.

Both officials also discussed the prospects for cooperation and mutual support within the framework of international organizations.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on a number of crucial issues on the global agenda of mutual interest. In the same connection, Sharif and Lassen discussed each other’s positions on regional and international issues, especially in the fields of environment, green economy, and combating climate change.

They also discuss modalities for collaboration in undertaking preparations for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which will be held in the Egyptian Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022.

COP27's approaches and goals come in line with Egypt's 2030 vision that aims at lowering carbon emissions, increasing reliance on clean energy, and building resilience through protecting citizens. Egypt's new strategy focuses on protecting the health of citizens and confronting biopersity loss. Besides, there are also provisions for climate finance and scientific research, according to Egypt’s government.

It's noteworthy to mention that Egypt has developed and deepened a successful relationship and renewable energy partnership with the Danish Government, with investments flowing between both countries.
