Egypt Denies Rumors of Fuel Prices Rise

On Monday, the media center of the cabinet denied the rumors circulated on social media outlets regarding an increase in fuel prices after the amendments of the share of the gasoline revenues allocated to the construction and maintenance of public roads.

On its part, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoP) confirmed that all fuel prices have been kept unchanged, noting that the amendment has no effect on the consumer gasoline prices.

In addition, it highlighted that these amendments to make the increase in  gasoline distributed between the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, which will have 67%, and the Ministry of Local Development by 33%.

The ministry also called on media outlets and social media users to seek information from official sources, encouraging citizens to report any complaints or violations and not to hesitate to contact the government on its hotline #16528 and the Consumer Protection Agency call center hotline 19588.

It is noteworthy that Egypt’s Fuel Automatic Pricing Committee is preparing to convene to determine the selling prices of petroleum products for Q1 2021.
