Egypt Cup: Ahly in Crucial Encounter with Pyramids Tonight

Al Ahly SC is ready for an important face-to-face encounter with its fierce rival of Pyramids FC in the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup tonight at 8 pm local time.

The game will be held in Borg Al-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Millions of Egyptian football fans are awaiting for this clash between the 41st league title holder Al-Ahly and the third placed Pyramids.

The Reds’ main target of the game is to rehabilitate their image after receiving two defeats in the Egyptian league against Pyramids.

Al Ahly have qualified for the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup after a tough 3-2 victory over El-Tersana at El-Salam stadium,  meanwhile Pyramids FC also qualified to the same round after beating second pision side Tanta 3-2.

Al-Ahly’s striker Salah Mohsen, who missed-out on their win against South Sudan’s Atlabara in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, is expected to participate in Pyramids’ clash.

While, Walid Soliman’s participation hasn’t been confirmed yet due to injury and Marwan Mohsen was also excluded as he’s still on holidays due to his marriage.

On the other hand, Pyramids suffered a huge blow as their striker John Antwi will miss-out on the game due to injury just days after he scored a brace against Etoile du Congo in the CAF Confederation Cup.

It is noteworthy that the referees committee in the Egyptian Football Association EFA announced the appointment of Egyptian international referee Gehad Grisha to take charge of the game.
