Egypt Enhances Education and Media Communication for Sustainable Development with Japan and Hong Kong

For the third time, Egypt started collaboration with Japan and Hong Kong in the fields of education and communication for sustainable development through the World Environment Project, represented by Dr. Hussien ZANATY, the Egyptian expert in the Egyptian education in Japan and a member of ‘Egypt Can’ Foundation.

The World Environment Project is supervised by Professor Yoshiro MIYATA, Dr. Alex HO, Dr. Marsha LUI of Polytechnic University, Dr. Ueshiba TOMOHIRO of Japan and Dr. Hussein ZANATY. Dr. ZANATY said that he helped in enhancing the role of education, media technology and communication to serve the sustainable development, in addition to the revival of heritage and teaching of respecting nature to children by manufacturing and designing traditional Japanese wooden toys. He was cooperating with professors from Japan and Hong Kong Universities.

He clarified in exclusive declarations to “SEE” that he worked on adding the Egyptian culture and lifestyle as a part of the activities of the World Environment Program. The Egyptian day included workshop on Egyptian cultures and method of making ‘Papyrus’ paper, traditional food, and displaying paintings inspired by the Egyptian heritage. The number of students that participated this year reached 30 students from the Polytechnic University, in addition to 30 students from Chukyo University.

The World Environment Project (WEP) is annually held in Japan in May; it runs for 10 days at the Academic Camp with the participation of students from Polytechnic University ,Chukyo University from the Media and Information Technology and Communications Engineering Department, and Kitami Institute of Technology .

The camp includes period of preparation, training, implementation and production, as well as special offers for museums and institutions for childcare services. Activities include tackling environmental problem and sustainable development issues such as “water conservation – rationalisation of electricity – waste recycling – alternative energy use – organic agriculture – heritage revival in small communities and rural areas – ways to protect the environment”. At the end of the academic camp of the World Environment Program, an open exhibition is held, inviting children and parents to present the experiences of the working groups.

Dr. ZANATY, The Egyptian expert also invited the Egyptian and Arab universities to participate in the World Environment Program in Japan.
