Egypt Contributes to Establishing 6 Water Stations, Dams in Uganda

Within the framework of its pioneering role played in the African continent, Egypt has implemented a project to construct 5 dams in Uganda to preserve rainwater and make us of it in many fields including drinking, household and livestock use.

The project consists of stations for underground tanks to preserve rainwater, and another to ward off flood risks in one of western Uganda provinces, contributing to saving the region from many disasters and protecting lives and property.

The Egyptian-Ugandan project contributes in exploiting the flood waters that were formerly wasted and caused material and human losses to the inhabitants of the region.

The second phase of the project aims to complete means of protection, in addition to developing and rehabilitating an intake for drinking water, preserving the soil from erosion, protecting the river’s sides, and establishing a hydrological monitoring network on the river’s course.

Preparation for the fifth phase of the Egyptian-Ugandan project to control water weeds and plants is currently ongoing.

Egypt has never abandoned its leading role in the African continent, as it provides assistance and support to all countries not only in the field of water resources but in all fields, in addition to the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in order to boost bilateral relations with various countries of the continent, especially the Nile Basin countries, through the Ministry's employment of many of its expertise and capabilities to support these countries and to serve African countries in water resources fields .

Bilateral cooperation, especially with Nile Basin countries, is one of the main axes of Egyptian foreign policy, which is considered one of the most important success factors in supporting Egyptian relations with the Nile Basin countries.
