The Egyptian national team, headed by Mexican manager Javier Aguirre, ended their training camp in Burg El-Arab and are now getting ready to participate in the African Cup of Nations(AFCON).

Egypt will host the African Nations Cup between June 21 and July 19, and will play in Group A with Zimbabwe, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the official "Facebook" account of the Egyptian Football Federation, "the national team concluded its camp in the city of Burg Al Arab, which lasted for 11 days, after two friendly matches against Tanzania and Guinea."

The national team displayed good skills in their two friendlies, defeating Tanzania with a goal by Mohammady. Then defeat Guinea with three goals to one.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to be the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament was initially scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon. Cameroon would have hosted the competition for the first time since 1972.

They were also the title holders after winning the previous edition but was stripped of hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations due to delays in renovating infrastructure, the Boko Haram insurgency and the Anglophone Crisis.

On 8 January 2019, Egypt was chosen by the CAF Executive Committee as the host nation of AFCON.
