With deep concern, Egypt is closely following up the latest political developments witnessed by the brotherly country of Somalia and the outbreak of violence in its capital Mogadishu over the past two days.

"Egypt calls on all political parties in Somalia to work together to address the causes of the current crisis and reach a consensual solution," Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Moreover, the statement added that Egypt urges all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to peaceful means and dialogue, and to work towards holding 'free, fair, and transparent elections.'

"Egypt also affirms its support for all political efforts aimed at resolving the current political situation in order to achieve the Somali people's aspiration for security, stability, development, as well as the elimination of terrorism threats," the statement read, calling on all partners to support Somalia to overcome the current situation.
