The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy announced on Saturday the implementation of the new electricity bill, which was announced in early July, and will be applied for the first time in August 2020.

The bill will be calculated in accordance with the prices of the new electricity tranches that were announced at the beginning of July and already applied to consumers.

The government has put in place a plan to restructure electricity prices, which includes extending the period of lifting subsidies on electricity bills by 2025 instead of 2021, an increase of another 3 years.

Prices of electricity in 2020/2021

The first tranche from 0-50 kilowatts will be charged 38 piastres instead of 30 piastres .

The second tranche from 51-100 kWh‎ will be charged 48 piastres instead of 40 piastres.

The third tranche from 0-200 kWh (65 pts instead of 50 pts)

Fourth tranche from 201-350 kWh (96 pts instead of 82 pts)

Fifth tranche from 351-650 kWh (118 pts instead of 100 pts)

Sixth tranche from 651-1000 kWh (140 piastres)

The seventh tranche from zero to less than 1000 kilowatts does will not receive any subsidies at 118 piastres per kilowatt.

From zero to more than 1,000, the kilowatt will be charged at 145 piastres.

The Ministry of Electricity confirmed that those who exceed their consumption of 650 kilowatts will leave the subsidy, indicating that it is possible to control the electricity bill by rationalizing consumption.
