EDA: One Person Dies of Stroke Every 15 Seconds

The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) confirmed that the death rate due to strokes around the world reached one person every 15 seconds, stressing that strokes occur due to atrial flutter of the heart.

In a post on "Facebook", The EDA affirmed that awareness about the symptoms of heart rhythm disorders should be raised among citizens and health care providers.

Moreover, the Drug Authority advised that the heart rate should be measured regularly, as heart rhythm disturbances do not cause obvious symptoms, explaining that the pulse must be monitored to avoid the risks, that could be resulted from heart disorders.

It is worth mentioing that, a stroke is a serious life-threatening medical condition that happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off.

Strokes are a medical emergency and urgent treatment is essential. The sooner a person receives treatment for a stroke, the less damage is likely to happen.

Symptoms of a stroke

-The person may not be able to smile, or his\her mouth or eye may have dropped.

-The person with suspected stroke may not be able to lift both arms.

- The person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake,

-The person may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.
