Dr. Mustafa El Feqi, Director of Alexandrine Bibliotheca this evening Kyriakos Mitsotakis; Prime Minister of Greece who is visiting Egypt to discuss ways of cooperation and the latest common regional and international developments.
Dr. El Feqi expressed his delight at receiving the Greek Premier after his meeting with the President.
He pointed out that the guest spent a short time in the library but it was sufficient to visit all Greek antiquities in the library and he was generous to write an acknowledgement note in the visitors' protocol.
Dr. El Feqi added that the Greek Premier was received with a great welcome in the library, he talked to me about the strong ties between Egypt and Greece, and how the relations between the two countries have always been parallel.
He indicated that the Library of Alexandria is the best symbol of Greek-Egyptian cooperation throughout history.
On his tour, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis inspected the most prominent landmarks of the Library of Alexandria, and listened to a simplified explanation of all the exhibitions and museums inside the library, as well as a visit to the Antiquities Museum. He also learned about the services provided by the library to its visitors.
The Greek Prime Minister expressed his admiration for the building of the Library of Alexandria and its design, which combines modernity and antiquity.
He was also keen to get acquainted with the library's holdings of books, periodicals and digitization projects undertaken by the library to serve researchers and readers.
He stressed that his visit to the library was impressive, and that he needed a longer time to identify its holdings.
Dr. Mustafa El Feqi presented Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis the shield of the Library of Alexandria, as well as a set of books, including "The Photographic Memory of Alexandria", "The Archeology Museum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrine", and "The Greeks and Building Modern Egypt".
For his part, the Greek Prime Minister presented the Library of Alexandria the book "Minoan and Greek Civilization" in Greek.
