On the other hand, the presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the two presidents discussed some regional issues, as well as ways of enhancing joint cooperation, whether on the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Greece.

“They also addressed ways to coordinate and exchange experiences on efforts to combat the spread of the new Coronavirus, and contain its economic and social repercussions,” Rady added.

Regarding some regional files of common interest, they exchanged points of views on energy security within the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, as the Cypriot President praised in this context the vital role played by Egypt in maintaining stability in the region, expressing the appreciation of the European Union for Egypt's efforts to achieve stability and combat terrorism, as well as the successful Egyptian experience in the field of combating illegal immigration.

Sisi and Anastasiades also tackled the latest developments in the Libyan issue and agreed to intensify coordination in this regard, rejecting any external interference.
