Culture Minister Inaugurates 1st Phase of Ismailia Palace

Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture and Major General Sherif Fahmy Bishara, Governor of Ismailia, yesterday inaugurated the first phase of the development of Ismailia Culture Palace, where all the replacement, renovation and rehabilitation works in the attached theater were completed.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Ahmed Awwad, Head of the General Organization of Culture Palaces, his deputy artist Hisham Atwa, and a number of executive leaderships in the governorate.

Abdel Dayem said that the Ministry of Culture continues to implement a strategy to modernize and develop the system of cultural service and its sites , activating their role.

Abdel Dayem praised the process of developing the theater and the new technologies that have been added, stressing that the cultural and artistic activities in the theater will be resumed immediately after the implementation of a set of distinctive creative programs.

The Ministry of Culture is preparing the activities of the 22nd edition of Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short Films.

Bishara hailed the efforts of the Ministry of Culture in various parts of Egypt, appreciating its role in reshaping awareness through the activities and events presented in the various cultural sites.

He also praised the renewal and development of the cultural facilities in the governorate.

On his part, Awad explained that the theater has a capacity of 838 viewers; its development works began in February 2020, including: the renewal of the central air conditioning system, the ceiling of the theater, the seats, lighting and sound equipment, the mechanics, the civil defense system, the maintenance of the stage.

The renovation also included equipping the theater with a cinema screen and a video projector, maintenance of the artistic painting of the façade of the palace.

It is worthy of note that the development work is underway to complete the second phase to develop and raise the palace’s efficiency, including the rest of the building and its annexes.

The opening ceremony included a presentation of the stages of the theater development, showing the work that had been implemented until now.

It is noteworthy that Ismailia Culture Palace is one of the largest cultural palaces in Egypt; it is located on an area of 5 acres. The administrative part was opened in 1995 and the theater was opened in 1997- no maintenance work has been done since its establishment.
