Culture Minister, Giza Governor Open Nihad Saliha Theatre at Arts Academy

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, and Major-General Ahmed Rashid, Giza Governor inaugurated, on Saturday, the open theater at the Academy of Arts, headed by Dr. Ghada Gebara. 

The theatre bears the name of Dr. Nihad Saliha, in recognition of her enlightening contributions to culture and arts. The ceremony was attended by public figures as well as a number of faculty members at the academy.

In her word, Abdel-Dayem said that the inauguration of the open theater is a new addition to the achievements of the Egyptian culture and will allow the students of the academy to fully coexist with the actual theatrical atmosphere and produce many purposeful performances.

It also comes as part of plans to honor and immortalize the symbols of creators, Culture Minister added, noting that Dr. Saliha is a prominent idol in the Egyptian culture.

Moreover, she praised the theater's equipment, which was carried out, in line with the latest sound, lighting, and decoration systems.

On his part, Giza Governor hailed the permanent and continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, describing the academy as a beacon that attracts lovers of arts and culture.

In addition, Gebara said that the theater is one of the most important part of the academy, paying tribute to the late Dr. Fawzi Fahmy, the former president of the academy, who laid the cornerstone of its establishment and everyone who contributed to its founding until the inauguration.

She also noted that Dr. Saliha is one of the most significant sources of knowledge, as she succeeded in transferring many elements of foreign cultures to Egypt, adding that the academy is preparing a plan to publish studies and books that highlight its work and its role in Arab cultural life.
