CAIRO, Sept 22 (SEE)- Head of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) Radhi Abdul Muti urged citizens on Saturday not to buy contact lenses of unknown source, stressing that pharmacies and medical units are the only authorized sellers.

Muti said that the agency has recently observed the widespread use of contact lenses sold at hairdressers and on sidewalks without any permission. "These lenses, are harmful to human health and have very negative side effects," he added.

He added that the role of the Authority is to protect and maintain the right of the consumer. "We have intensified campaigns on these places, and seized large quantities of contact lenses of unknown source, and are taking legal action necessary towards the sellers," he said.
