The juvenile criminal court in Cairo sentenced Mohamed Rageh and three others to 15 years in jail over killing Mahmoud El-Banna, who is known as the “martyr of the chivalry”

The juvenile criminal court in Cairo sentenced Rageh and two others to 15 years in jail over a premeditated killing Mahmoud El-Banna, who is known as the “martyr of the chivalry”. Meanwhile, the fourth defendant has been sentenced to five years in prison over the same charges.

In a court hearing, on October 27, evidence ascertained that Rageh, the main defendant in the case, was a minor and his trials would be held before a juvenile court.

A big number of social media users called for executing Rageh in retaliation for El-Banna who was killed for defending a girl from assault and harassment in the city of Tala in Mounefia.

The Whole Story:

Rageh, who’s known as a bully along with two of his friends were sexually harassing a girl in the streets, but El-Banna decided to stand up to Rageh and his friends to tell them to consider the girl as if they’re harassing a sister“.

Rageh, however, along with three criminals came up with a plan to actually murder El-Banna. As they waited for him to finish his private lesson and went after him.

While one trapped him and the other hit him with a stick, Rageh stabbed El-Banna in his neck and stomach that he reached the hospital half dead, already.

El-Banna died in hospital and was dubbed “the martyr of chivalry.” Thousands marched through the streets beside his body.

In the wake of the incident, a huge number of social media users expressed their discontent and called for Rageh’s immediate punishment to be an example to others who harass girls in the streets.
