Official sources in Brazil confirmed that the Minister of Environment in Brazil   Ricardo Salles has been infected with the novel  Coronavirus ( also known as COVID-19).

The infected minister will remain in complete isolation at his residence in Brasilia until he completes his clinical quarantine.

The Brazilian newspaper "Folha" indicated that the controversial minister who supports the environmental policy, which is subject to many criticisms of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, showed that symptoms of a slight fever have been detected.

But the Ministry of  Environment confirmed in a statement that he is fine, and he will have to keep isolated in his home, according to medical directives.

Salles joined a wide list of high-level Brazilian officials who have been infected with the Coronavirus.

This list6  includes  President Jair Bolsonaro himself, who is one of the most serious deniers of the pandemic which has swept the world since December 2019.

The Brazilian president himself said that more than 200 members of the staff of the Presidency had been infected, none of them had been hospitalized with serious symptoms for preventive treatment with drugs for which there is no scientific evidence of effectiveness, and that the far-right leader is defending hard.

Likewise, 14 of Bolsonaro's 23 ministers have contracted the virus, among them Health Minister Eduardo Pazuelo; Institutional Security Augusto Heleno Ribeiro, the Minister of the  Presidency, Walter Braga Neto,   three generals in reserve, and the two former presidents of the House and Senate, Rodrigo Maya and Dave Alcolember, respectively, who left their posts in February to make way for new incumbents Arthur Lira and Rodrigo Pacheco, were also injured.

Several Supreme Court justices are also infected by Corona.

Brazil, which houses a population of approximately 212 million, along with the United States and India, is one of the most countries affected by Corona.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health, the South American giant is already accumulating nearly ten million confirmed cases and surpassed 240,000 deaths related to the new coronavirus yesterday, Tuesday, since the first case was confirmed in the country, nearly a year ago.
