Congo defeated Zambia 40-21 on the first day of the 26th edition of the CAHB African Men's Championship. Tunisia also beat Kenya 59-18.
The championship will be held in Egypt from January 17-27 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Participating teams from Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo, DR of Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Zambia.
The event serves as a qualification event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The draw for the event took place on November 16, 2023.
Moreover, the opening ceremony of the 2024 African Handball Cup of Nations will be held Wednesday evening in Hall 1 of the indoor complex at Cairo International Stadium, Egypt will play against Guinea after the ceremony.
