Chinese President Congratulates Biden, Seeks Steady Relations with US

On Wednesday, the President of China, Xi Jinping, sent a congratulatory message Joe Biden for reportedly winning the 2020 United States presidential election, according to the spokesperson for the Chinese government, Hua Chunying.

According to the message, the Chinese president pointed out that promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US relations not only conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, but also is the common expectation of the international community.

Xi said that he also hopes that the two sides will uphold the spirit of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, focus on cooperation, manage differences, advance the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. ties, and join hands with other countries and the international community to promote the noble cause of world peace and development.

On the same day, Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan sent a message to Kamala Harris to congratulate her on election as U.S. vice president.
