On Monday, Egypt's Minister of Education Tarek Shawky announced that the Chinese language will be taught in preparatory schools as an optional foreign language subject by December.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Ministry of Education, Shawky emphasised:" The Ministry will have Chinese language experts teaching students of the preparatory phase."

"This decision came also in light of collaboration between the two countries through the Global Partnerships for Effective Development platform to support Egyptian new vision," the statement added.

In a step intended to enhance the cultural dialogue and cooperation between Egypt and China, Shawky met Monday morning with the Chines Ambassador to Cairo Chen Jiakang to share the educational outlook for both countries and ideas to expand cultural cooperation.

During the meeting, the two officials underscored the importance of Egyptian-Chines cultural links.

Furthermore, they discussed ways to strengthen ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the education field.
