The chief epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced today (Saturday) that the possibility of a new large-scale outbreak of the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19) in China during the next two to three months is very small. Since 80 percent of the population has already contracted the virus.

And Chinese authorities said, yesterday (Friday), that the worst is over in its battle against “Covid-19”.

On the other hand, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed, Thursday, his concern about the spread of the Coronavirus in rural areas of the country as millions of people expected to move to their villages before the start of the Lunar New Year celebrations, according to the French Press Agency.

Xi defended his "zero Covid" policy, which was abandoned last month due to the damage to the economy and the unprecedented nationwide protests it sparked, saying it was the "right choice" and allowed the country to combat "several rounds of variant outbreaks."
