Ministry of Health spokesman Khaled Megahed said that the Central bank of Egypt (CBE) discussed providing 500 ambulances at a cost of EGP 775 million to support the health sector and provide medical services during the development of health units and a number of central hospitals.

Megahed added that the CBE supported the health sector by providing EGP 1.4 billion for the presidential initiative to end patient waiting lists, in addition to EGP 1.3 billion to combat COVID-19.

This came during a meeting between the Minister of Health Hala Zayed and the Governor of the Central Bank Tarek Amer on Thursday to discuss ways to support the health sector.

On her part, Zayed lauded the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) contribution and permanent support to the health sector, starting with the President's initiative to eliminate waiting lists in critical conditions, in addition to supporting the health sector in dealing with the precautions of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Central Bank's support includes the Presidency's initiative to end patient waiting lists and efforts to combat COVID-19, as well as the Presidency's initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside.
