On Thursday, the Moroccan Ministry of Culture postponed the upcoming 27th edition of the Casablanca International Book Fair instead of organizing it in February.

According to the official statement issued by the ministry, the main reason for postponing the event is the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.

The statement added that it is somehow impossible to organize the book fair currently. Also, it asserted the importance of giving care of the visitors and exhibitors' health.

Moreover, the ministry indicated that the new dates of the event will be announced later.

Last year, the book fair received more than a half-million visitors as the spread of the pandemic was limited somehow.

On Wednesday, Morocco reported new 2143 COVID-19 cases and 41 new deaths. The total number of recorded COVID-19 cases in the state reached 437, 332 cases, and the total number of deaths reached 7355.
