The current Wimbledon title holder and the World No 3 Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Italian Open in Rome, which will kick off on May 8.
Alcaraz withdrew from the Rome's competition due to forearm injury which he suffers from for a month, according to Alcaraz's statement on Friday.
Alcaraz said: “I felt some pain after playing in Madrid, some discomfort in my arm,” adding: “Today I did some tests and I have a muscle edema in my pronator teres, a consequence of my recent injury.
“Unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome. I need to rest so I can recover and play 100 per cent pain free. I am very sorry, I will see you next year.”
Alcaraz was eliminated from Madrid open by being defeated by the Russian Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.
