American rapper Cardi B landed recently her first leading role in a movie. The hip-hop icon is set to star in Paramount’s upcoming comedy film “Assisted Living”.

The plot follows Amber (Cardi B), a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong. On the run from the cops and former crew, she disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides out in her estranged grandmother’s nursing home.

Paramount won rights for the film after a competitive bidding war in spring 2019.  “Assisted Living” is based on an original script by Kay Oyegun, the writer for “This Is Us.”

The Grammy-winning artist made her feature film debut starring opposite Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, and Keke Palmer in “Hustlers,” the true story movie based on the 2019 crime drama about strippers who turn the tables on their wealthy Wall Street clientele.

Cardi B will also be seen in “F9,” the next installment in Universal’s “Fast & Furious” franchise.

The “Bodak Yellow" singer got her start on the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip-Hop,” which she appeared on from 2015 to 2017. Her first album, “Invasion of Privacy,” was released in 2018.
